Navigate Grief Together

When we lose someone, it can feel as if our reality has cracked. Grief Counselling can assist you in finding grounding in the new reality. Grief counselling provides a safe space to discuss your feelings and emotions, helping you discover ways to ease the grieving process.

Coping with grief and the loss of a loved one

Grief is one of the most challenging things we can face in life. In a sense, our love becomes homeless, creating a void and unbearable pain. Grief can be overwhelming, and in counselling, you will find a safe place to express and share the different and complex feelings that come with your loss. You will learn how to handle your emotions. And in time, you will find your way back to hope and light again.

Recovering from grief is a process.

Your loss may be new. It may have been a while. The circumstances surrounding a loss are often significant in relation to the time we need to heal and recover. Therefore your counselling can be a shorter or more prolonged process. But the goal is always to gain a better insight and understanding of your feelings and reactions. And supply you with tools to use in everyday life when you feel overwhelmed. The goal is also to help you discover a new life after losing a loved one. It is possible for you too, and grief counselling will help you well on your way.

Grief is the expression of having loved another human being and still does. Love does not disappear even if the absence (togetherness) of the person you love has disappeared.

Grief can appear in many different life situations, and we’re here to support you. Situations I can help you with could be:
  • Living with chronic and terminal illness
  • Life as a relative of a teminally ill person
  • Recovering from loss
  • Coping with grief and the loss of a loved one

Grief comes in many shapes and forms

How can life be lived as best as possible with severe and incurable diseases? It can be conversations about thoughts and experiences with family, friends, sports and work. Who am I with a chronic illness? Thoughts can be challenging to share with friends and family.

The surroundings are also affected when a family member gets a chronic and terminal illness.

As a relative, you are often emotionally burdened, and you may need support and guidance for both practical tasks and dealing with the many emotions that illness can cause.

Support to navigate grief together

We’re here to assist both individuals and companies. Drawing from our personal encounters and professional knowledge, we are dedicated to being your pillar of support throughout your unique journey.

A safe space for conversations and guidance

Grief counselling aims to support your grief and help you adjust to a life without the person you have lost.

As left behind, it's not about when the grief hits or how long you've known each other but about the existing relationship. Grief is an expression of having loved another person and still does. Love does not disappear even if the absence (togetherness) of the person you care about has disappeared.

Our sessions

The first half of the sessions will concentrate on the loss and the relationship. We will talk about the person you have lost and understand the expression of grief. The second half of our sessions will be about grieving, adjusting to life without the one you lost and how to live with and redefine life without them.

What to expect at your first visit

The first part of the grief session will be a clarifying conversation. It will give me an overall impression of where you are in your grief and how I can best help you.A few helpful tips for the first session:

  • Wear comfortable close
  • Don't worry too much about what to say; I will guide you
  • Don't be afraid to ask me questions
  • It is normal to cry during the first session
  • Clear some space on either side of your appointment
  • Remember, there is no quick fix
  • I am here to help you

How I can help

In a grief consultation, we will always start by getting to know your unique situation and adapt the sessions to fit your needs. You may experience the following:

  • Development of coping skills
  • Knowledge about the grieving process
  • Improved self-awareness and self-compassion

Pricing

The fee is 180 CHF for a 55-minute counselling session.

Develop a Bereavement Strategy to  Boosts Employee Well-Being and Company Health

Bereavement is a taboo subject that causes anxiety in many people, which can have significant consequences for an employee and ultimately become an expensive affair both personally and financially for the employee and the company.

Our working life affects our private lives. Private life involves working life. We are just humans. The sooner the organisation takes care of helping and supporting an employee in grief, the greater the chance of preventing stress and long-term sick leave.

Be prepared as a company to take care of employees and colleagues in a difficult and emotionally stressful situation.A team is often affected by a colleague's grief, and it is therefore important to get help to equip them to understand, support and help their colleague grieving.

Taking care of a colleague in grief prevents stress and long-term sick leave, which benefits both the employee and the company.A bereavement plan is important to support bereaved employees and the go-to person in a difficult situation. It is about the working environment and sustainability.

    Questions

How many sessions will I need?

Your counselling sessions are tailored to your specific needs and can span from a few sessions to several years, depending on your progress. Many clients report significant improvement after 5-10 sessions and often feel ready to apply the skills they've learned independently after 10-20 sessions.

How can I determine if the counsellor is the right fit for me?

Ensuring the proper connection with your counsellor is crucial for a successful journey. To fully benefit from the treatment, you should feel a strong sense of chemistry, trust, and security in the counselling relationship. To help you make this important decision, you're encouraged to reach out and schedule a preliminary call before booking your initial session. This lets you gauge whether I am the right match for your needs.

I like what you offer, but I wonder if it's good for me.

While time can bring temporary relief, counselling offers proactive strategies to manage the present and prevent future issues. It's natural to feel hesitant, but you don't have to go it alone. Let's discuss your concerns and make the therapy process comfortable.

How do I feel after my first sessions?

You often feel emotionally exposed and vulnerable in the days following our first sessions, especially if you have opened up about things you don’t usually talk about. If this happens to you, know that it’s completely normal. It is also known as a “vulnerability hangover.” It might make you feel you don’t want to return for the next session. See if you can work through that feeling and give it another try. We will then talk about your experience in the next session.

What is the cost of counselling sessions?

    Adults:
A standard 55-minute adult session is CHF 180, with payment due at the session unless other arrangements are made.

    Youth:
Youth often find shorter sessions more manageable due to the intensity of discussing feelings. The fee for a 45-minute counselling session is CHF 160.
Self-paying students can access a 45-minute session at a rate of CHF 120.
