Living a globally dynamic life can be a whirlwind of excitement and adventure, but it's not without its challenges, especially when it comes to maintaining strong personal relationships. The path of international exploration can sometimes lead to strains within relationships – the kind where one partner is engrossed in work and travel while the other shoulders the responsibilities of family and household. This scenario can usher in feelings of isolation, leaving both individuals yearning for a shared perspective as they navigate this unique journey together.
A secondment can also mean strains in the marriage as one works and perhaps often travels, and the other is responsible for the family and household. Both sides can sometimes feel lonely as they may occasionally have a common point of view and framework while deployed.
Many problems in relationships are due to misunderstandings and miscommunication. We are all coloured by our upbringing and the baggage we carry with us. What most people need to remember to take into consideration is that these affect us daily on an unconscious level and control a large part of our actions and behaviour patterns without us even being aware of them.

With couples counselling, you learn to understand each other on a deeper level, which provides opportunities to develop both the couple's relationship and you as individuals.
In couples counselling, our role is to collaboratively explore and enhance your awareness of the dynamics at play within and between you as a couple. We don't provide quick fixes but serve as neutral facilitators who pose thought-provoking questions, guide you through exercises, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Our sessions are the starting point, but the therapy unfolds between sessions as you reflect and apply insights to your daily life. We support your journey towards healthier connections and more profound understanding.
The conversations are structured over regular meetings of 75 minutes duration. At times, a single conversation can be transformative, while in other instances, a more sustained process is necessary, involving regular sessions where both parties come together. We adapt our approach to best suit your unique needs and goals in your journey towards improved relational well-being.
The fee is 230 CHF for a 75-minute counselling session.
MondoClinic counselling is not covered by any basic or supplementary insurance; rebates for any sessions can not be claimed with your insurance and, therefore, must be self-funded.
A robust, safe and loving relationship is the prerequisite for our well-being. When we travel out into the world as expats, the dynamics in relationships and the family change. It enriches us with experiences and can bring us together as a couple and family. It can challenge and create conflicts, insecurity and increased pressure on the relationship.
It can be challenging to share with new acquaintances that you have difficulties in your relationship or that one of your family members is not doing well.
Successful productivity and job satisfaction largely depend on the accompanying family also agreeing. It is important to have increased awareness of and insight into intercultural dynamics and the impact of culture shock on mental health.

Your counselling sessions are tailored to your specific needs and can span from a few sessions to several years, depending on your progress. Many clients report significant improvement after 5-10 sessions and often feel ready to apply the skills they've learned independently after 10-20 sessions.
Ensuring the proper connection with your counsellor is crucial for a successful journey. To fully benefit from the treatment, you should feel a strong sense of chemistry, trust, and security in the counselling relationship. To help you make this important decision, you're encouraged to reach out and schedule a preliminary call before booking your initial session. This lets you gauge whether I am the right match for your needs.

While time can bring temporary relief, counselling offers proactive strategies to manage the present and prevent future issues. It's natural to feel hesitant, but you don't have to go it alone. Let's discuss your concerns and make the therapy process comfortable.
You often feel emotionally exposed and vulnerable in the days following our first sessions, especially if you have opened up about things you don’t usually talk about. If this happens to you, know that it’s completely normal. It is also known as a “vulnerability hangover.” It might make you feel you don’t want to return for the next session. See if you can work through that feeling and give it another try. We will then talk about your experience in the next session.
